FAQs

Do I need any experience to train with Grounded Arts?

Nope! We have specifically designed a curriculum so that all levels, from brand new folks to seasoned veterans of the sport, will be able to learn, grow, and share the mats!

Should I “get in shape” before coming out?

Nope! Jiu Jitsu is a very good way to lose weight, gain strength, and improve cardio! Why not have a blast, learn new skills, and make new friends WHILE getting in the best shape of your life? “There is no fitness like grappling fitness!”

What do I need to get started?

YOURSELF! One of the great things about Jiu Jitsu is that you don’t need expensive, specialized gear to train!  Just wear some tight-fitting athletic clothes and easy to take off shoes. A water bottle would be a great help too!

Am I too old? (Usually by folks in their 40’s and 50’s)

We work with folks of all fitness levels, ages, and past injuries! So far, the oldest student we have had at our partner gym is 89 years old! We promise we can “teach an old dog new tricks”.

Are my kids too young?

Kids need to have the basic ability to follow instructions, wait their turn and stand in line so the minimum age requirement for our kids class is 7 years old.
